Welcome to The Odyssey School Website

We hope that as you visit this website you will discover helpful information about Odyssey whether you are just beginning to learn about us or you know us well already.  We are a unique coeducational independent school serving the needs of children, ages five through grade eight with dyslexia and other language related learning issues.   Recognized for academic excellence and a commitment to character education, Odyssey is celebrating its sixteenth year of providing students the experience of success.  We are a community of hard working students, supportive parents, and committed teachers, administrators and staff.

Located on forty-two acres of beautiful countryside in Stevenson, Maryland, the school is focused on delivering research based programming in an environment in which each student is known, valued and cared for as an individual.  Classroom experiences are infused with high expectation and high support.  Students are provided one on one or one on two tutoring sessions daily.   At Odyssey, we offer specialized academic training using innovative methods of best practice in dyslexia education, and we maintain a commitment to a low student/teacher ratio.   Our state of the art facility which includes well equipped computer and science labs, a performing arts center, a full scale gymnasium, a dynamic visual arts department,  and specifically designed tutoring rooms enhances the well rounded offerings provided to our students. 

Academic competence is developed within the context of building personal character.  The Four Pillars of Kindness, Honesty, Respect and Hard Work are infused into all aspects of student life.  We facilitate development of these character values in school wide assemblies, community service projects, athletic competitions, daily social interactions and classroom activities.

Our school was founded by a group of dedicated and visionary families in 1994.
