The Odyssey School Arts Program

Art, drama, and music are central to Odyssey’s program and are integrated throughout the core curriculum.  Students are actively engaged in the creative processes in the all school productions, projects and classroom learning.  Students are offered many opportunities to showcase their unique talents by expressing themselves through the arts.  Classrooms and halls are lined with displays of student work and projects.

Students also regularly present plays and musical performances in the School’s Founders Performing Arts Center. While fostering individual talents and interests, our students develop their own scripts, costumes, sets and lighting.  Opportunities abound for them to take on the role of actor, stage manager, stage director, and choreographer.  The arts program is further enhanced by field trips to art museums, plays and concerts, and by visits from dance troupes, artists, illustrators, actors and musicians.

Students gain opportunities for creative expression through the following activities:

  • Annual Talent Show
  • Drama Club
  • Art Club
  • Annual Students Art Show
  • Student Art Contests
  • Specialized Workshops with Visiting Artists
  • Homeroom Skits at School Assemblies
  • Student Created Video Productions
  • Annual Theater Productions
  • Independent Study in Art and Music
  • Instrumental Program with an Instructor from The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University
