Financial Aid Process

The Odyssey School provides financial assistance to those families who demonstrate the financial need, a commitment to our program, and a willingness to work in partnership with the school.

We recognize that the commitment to an independent school involves adjustment of spending habits and financial sacrifices for every family. While the primary responsibility for educational funding rests with the family, the Odyssey School strives to meet the needs of as many families as possible.

The key to navigating the process of applying for financial aid lies in communicating with the Admissions Director and Business manager, understanding your options and the steps of the process, and adhering to deadlines.

A financial aid committee determines the amount of an award based on the recommendations of School and Student Services (SSS), supportive documentation, and direct communication and conversation with the family.  SSS is a service provided by the National Association of Independent Schools. While each individual family’s finances are reviewed and considered in this process, lifestyle choices and unusual family circumstances are also a factor in the determination of an award.

Financial Aid Application Procedures

The most efficient means of applying for financial aid is electronically through SSS. Log on to www.sss.nais.org in order to begin the process. This electronic version has numerous advantages including a built-in error checking process and online document collection. Each family must complete a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) and then submit those documents required specifically by Odyssey. This process is articulated in the SSS Information for Families

Hard copy applications are available through the admissions office and should be sent to the following address:

SSS By NAIS
P.O. Box 449
Randolph, MA 02368

A toll-free help line is available for questions:

800-344-8328, Mon-Fri:  9 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Sat.:  9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Late Applications

Late applications will be placed in a financial aid waiting pool and will not be considered until after April 1, 2011. This also applies to incomplete applications as the Committee is not able to make an informed decision without all required documentation.

Policy for Divorced Parents

Each parent must submit a PFS regardless of custody or legal financial agreements.
