Odyssey Named a School of Character

The Odyssey School has been named a 2010 Maryland School of Character by the Maryland Center for Character Education.  The selection followed the submission of a comprehensive application and portfolio to the State Schools of Character review committee.

In addition to receiving the state level recognition, The Odyssey School’s application was forwarded to the Character Education Partnership in Washington. D.C. for entry in the National Schools of Character Award competition.

Head of The Odyssey School Marty Sweeney noted, “Odyssey is thrilled to receive this designation.  This distinction speaks volumes about our School’s character education built on the Four Pillars of Kindness, Honesty, Respect and Hard Work, through participation in community service, and the competencies training offered in the Second Step program. Odyssey is committed to building character and reinforcing appropriate choices.”

Odyssey’s statewide award will be presented at a special awards ceremony to be held on September 23, 2010 where the School will be honored for building and sustaining its character education initiatives.
