Odyssey's Math Department Co-Chairs Selected to Present at NCTM 2024 Regional Conference & Exposition

Katie Madigan and Jason Cvach, co-chairs of Odyssey’s math department, were selected to present at the NCTM 2024 Regional Conference & Exposition in Seattle. This prestigious event draws thousands of math educators nationwide, providing a platform for sharing insights and learning from industry leaders.

Mr. Cvach and Ms. Madigan's session, "Making Sense of Math: Strategies That Stick," explored the impact of dyslexia on math skills and shared strategies to help students learn their basic facts, build number sense skills, and learn core math concepts. Highlighting Odyssey's transformative program, the session emphasized a strong focus on strategy development rather than memorization of procedures.

"What an honor it was to showcase the amazing strategies, games, and practices we use in Odyssey math classrooms. We are hoping participants walked away with practical strategies that will benefit all students, especially students with learning differences," said Katie Madigan, math department co-chair. "We also appreciated the opportunity to learn from other presenters to bring back new and research based practices to Odyssey's math team."
