Resources for Parents

This online resource library is compiled and updated by the Outreach Team. It consists of a recommended reading list, warning signs for dyslexia, and links for articles, organizations, and current research all related to dyslexia and language learning differences.

Tutor Referral Service

Outreach at Odyssey offers tutors for students in grades K-8 who need specialized reading and/or writing instruction. Highly trained and experience tutors who have expertise in working with students with dyslexia or related language learning differences are recommend through this referral service. Tutors are available to offer these services after school, during the summer, and on a private basis.

Free Language and Literacy Screenings

The Odyssey School offers free screenings for children aged 4-8 years old who show signs of language, reading, and writing challenges. Odyssey's highly trained and experienced speech-language pathologists review speech, language, and literacy skills to recommend if further evaluation will benefit the child's academic programming. The screening does not provide an official diagnosis, but is rather a first step.

Early intervention is crucial to academic success. If you have concerns about a child aged birth to 4 years old, contact your pediatrician and/or your local public school system for next steps.

We offer free language and literacy screenings from October through April each year.
